I was more than a little bit chuffed when Shirley Blair, my lovely editor at People’s Friend, said she was going to do a blog piece about David Young - the artist who illustrates my Broome Park prefab village stories.
This is the latest painting. Isn’t it great! It illustrated my latest story "Lost And Found" which is in "The People's Friend" Special No. 72, on sale now.
And here’s a snippet from the ‘Friend’s’ blog. But do go and read the whole thing for yourselves! Visit The People's Friend Facebook page, too, for lots of friendly chat.
“Readers almost feel they know the families of Broome Park prefab village as well as they know their own neighbours, and it's thanks to the combined creative talents of Pat Posner and David Young...
So we asked David how he goes about transferring Pat's lively characters on to canvas.”

It's lovely, Pat! I really enjoy your prefab stories and the illustrations are just perfect. It's lovely to read about how the two are brought together :-) x
My friend Polly Pullar also writes in the Peoples Friend, love that illustration.
Pat your stories and a nd the illustrations are just a perfect combination! Lovely! [I wish I could figure out how to receive updates about your blog by e-mail!] xxx
Dear Pat
I am so glad to see you writing on here again. I thought you had stopped. I came to see if you had put up the picture that went with the story called A Silver Lining.I enjoyed it so very much.
I came back after reading Lost and Found and here you are again. That was a lovely story, too. I hope you are going to write a lot more prefab village stories. It would be nice to see them all together in a book along with the wonderful paintings.
Sincerely
Beryl James
David's pictures compliment your wonderful prefab stories perfectly, Pat. Great blog over at the PF site about it.
Aww, thanks, Teresa.
I'm glad you enjoy the stories.
David's illustrations really add a 'special something', I think.
Hi, Posie
Thank you for visiting.
I love Polly's articles and photos in the Friend. I bet she's a lovely person to know.
Hi, Edith
I really am lucky to have David illustrating my stories. I love all his paintings for - he does a lot for the Friend (I love mine the best, though).
Beryl, thank you for coming back - even though I'm a lazy blogger and don't post as often as I should!
It's really lovely to know you enjoy the prefab village stories.
There should be one in early October and another in early November and (fingers crossed) I hope there'll be a Christmassy one, too.
Maybe, one day, they'll go in a book - along with David's paintings, of course.
Hi, Kate
It was a lovely blog post on the Friend's blog, wasn't it!
I'm looking forward to your next Michaelmas Jolly!
What a lovely post and how fantastic that he illustrates your stories so perfectly.
How lovely for you to be featured in their blog like that and I do love his illustrations.
I love his style - very vivid and detailed. They certainly do justice to your writing!
We could either worry sick about when the world will end, or we can start to take care of it today and live our lives to the fullest.I think this is among the most important info for me. And i am glad reading your article. But want to remark on few general things, The web site style is great, the articles is really great : D. Good job, cheers
