Something Else Nice Happened Today...
Warning: A bit of a 'Me...Me' Post
This Pocket Novel was accepted about eighteen months ago and published last December and I really like the 'moody' cover. Today is the first time I've seen it! My author copies went awol and my local newsagent doesn't get the My Weekly Pocket Novels (can you believe that)! So a big thanks to editor Tracey for 'plundering' the MW stores.
Now I'm sending a copy to the Large Print publishers - hoping they'll want to publish it, too!

Yummy Palets Bretons recipe for TF:
4 egg yolks240g butter 120g castor sugar300g plain flour, siftedMilk, to ‘wash’ the cookies
1. Beat together the egg yolks and castor sugar till light and creamy.
2. Cream the butter then beat into the egg and sugar mix till well-combined.
3. Slowly add the flour, about 1/4 cup at a time, making sure to mix well after each addition.
4. Once all the flour has been incorporated, tip the dough onto a large square of cling wrap and press into a ball shape, then refrigerate for 30 mins.
5. Remove from the fridge then roll into a long, thick sausage. It should be about 5-6cm in diameter. Place back in the refrigerator 1 hour.
6. Preheat oven to 375degrees F. Gas Mark 5. Slice the dough into rounds about 1-1.5cm thick.
7. Place rounds on a baking tray lined with baking paper and lightly flatten with the palm of your hand. Give each round a milk wash, then lightly trace a lattice pattern into each one with a fork.
8. Bake for 15-20mins till the top of the biscuits looks golden; remove and let them cool on the tray.

Wow that's brilliant. Well done Pat :o)
I love the way those pocket novels are printed. Well done you!
The cover is great, isn't it! Good luck with the large print people.
That's brilliant, Pat! I'm sure the large print publishers will love it. :-))
Pat that cover is beautiful! As you said, it's really moody and dare I say - sexy!!!!
Don't give us a warning Pat, for the 'you' post. We want to share the triumps ... Brilliant cover. Congratulations.
Thank you, Cal. Now back to your novels *smile* I like whip and WIP cracking.
How frustrating for your copies to go missing like that. The cover is lovely, no wonder you're pleased.
Best of luck with the large print people.
Lane, it feels like a belated celebration, thank you.
MW and PF always seem to come up with great covers.
Thank you, Annie.
It's about 10k shorter than the other one the large print publisher had but hopefully that won't matter.
Christina, I might have known you'd describe the cover like that. But, as you know, the bedroom door doesn't open very far. Still, I'm always saying you've got a vivid imagination *smile*.
Aww, what a nice thing to say, JJ.
Many thanks.
Debs, it was frustrating; I was starting to wonder if I'd dreamed the sale! Thanks for the good luck!
That's wonderful! Congratulations!
I would frame that, Pat, and put it on the wall. Well done. Hope there are many more to follow.
That's great, Pat! Well done. Good luck with the large print publishers.

Thank you Honeysuckle (you'll get the 'real thing' tomorrow), Weaver of Grass, Maddie and Tam!
TF. Thank you!
Have added the yummies for you - and for anyone else who wants to bake some disgustingly rich but gorgeous biscuits.
Merci, I'm liking these biscuits. I might just give it a go (As a rule I don't cook very well - we eat out a lot ;-) TFx
Hi, Sara
Almost missed you there! I must have been making Palets Bretons addition when you posted!
Congratulations. That looks marvellous.
Oh, I still remember when you wrote that story and it's so nice to belatedly see the cover (which is gorgeous!!!). I'll pretend I will bake those biscuits but who are we kidding!!!!!!!!
That looks phenomenal!

Yum - biscuits!!!
Wow I do feel amongst very published company! Well done Pat, scones lok lovely too but I dont do baking. Only burning. Fx
Don't know if you mean the Palets or the book, Helen *smile*, but thank you!
Amanda, it was ages ago wasn't it! But I still remember how much you bullied me into finishing it and sending it off!
Hi, and thank you, Ellie, Kate, Tam and Fionnuala.
Palets do burn easily; I think quite a few writers are good at burning things.
Your own little pocket novel - I love it! Well done. I think they sell them in my local Sainsburys. Great recipe too, not that I need an excuse to start baking :o)
Thanks, Karen
Hey the palets would be great with blackberry fool!
What joy!!! To see your own name on a cover!!
Well done, and fingers crossed for the large-print sub.
It IS nice, Leigh. Not being greedy, but I'd like to see my name on some more magazine stories, too!
Absolutely fantastic! I so love to see a book with a name I know on it! :)
I'm having a launch party over on my blog and you're invited! Bring your book along!
Thank you, Liane
I'm on my way over to the launch party.

Hi Pat me again sorry about my bad spelling ;-)
* What wonderful news!
Best wishes, Annie W
Ps, thank you for your help, I'm busy mapping a mini novel of my own and was pleased to hear your wonderful news.
Wow Pat. Congrats. I didn't know there was such a thing as the pocket novel, what a cool idea. I would so love to see my work in print, not a sausage yet, not even a short story but...I'll keep on trying. It's a great boost when others are doing it though!
Oh god, its raining again!
Thank you Annie W and L-Plate.
Annie, good luck with your mini novel.
L-Plate, Both PF and MW bring out 4
novellas a month. WH Smith and bigger supermarkets usually have them but not many smaller newsagents seem to.
I've not had a sausage for a while but, like you, I'll keep trying and, yes, it's a great boost to hear evryone else's success stories.
Lovely cover - Great that you've subbed it for large print.
Hi, Nell
We've been lucky with our novella covers, haven't we!
And it would be good if I can get another Linford Romance.
My first visit here Pat, so really chuffed for you.
Will have to get a copy of the magazine.
Welcome, Mrs Nesbitt!
Thank you for visiting, please call again.
Am on my way over to return the visit...
Fantastic! Many congratulations.
Also, I've commented on the award post regarding Amy's blog just to say a huge thank you. Sorry I'm late but as you know I've been away. It's taking far too long to catch up on blogs.
CJ xx
Just wanted to pop by and say thanks so much for the healing thoughts for Smudge. Very much appreciated xxx

You and Smudge are more than welcome, Helen.
I'm sure a lot of your blog friends and mine will be thinking thoughts for Smudge.
Edward and I so enjoyed our visit to your place tonight. We both think Tessa is gorgeous, and are very sorry about the loss of Charlie.
You have a lovely blog, and we shall return.
Thank you for visiting, Edward and Pamela.
You've got a lovely place, too.

Thank you! It's good to see you're fully over your ordeal.

Great to see you, too, Cait. I hope the water level is now back to normal.
It's nice to know LP books are popular, I'll take that as a lucky omen for 'Sunlight'.

If you have a minute check out my Aga Saga writing yesterday. I know I should write more and had the time yesterday. Would welcome your thoughts.

Hi, Scc
That black box is a fun widget, isn't it!
I was brought here by the black box. Congrats on the book!

The black box sent me here!
I love the cover!
Good to see you Ken. Not seen Trixie yet!
Hi, Casdok.
Yes, I'm very pleased with the cover.
Hi Pat. Good luck with the large print!
It's black boxes that brought me here this time :-)
Landed back here in my homeland via the black box! Nice blog and thanks for the recipe
Hi, Liz
Good to see you again. Hope you've settled in over there.
Sarah, how nice the black box brought you to your homeland. Come again soon.
Hi Pat - back again thanks BBW.
The heat today is unbelieveable but the sun is shining :-)
Miss your blogs, Pat. Thought you might be ill, or away - but then today you commented on my blog so you are still around. Hope the absence of a new blog lately is due to lots of creative writing going on.
Aww, thanks the weaver of grass!
I didn't realise how long it's been since a new blog - the current post has been busy so I've just been replying to comments here.
Not much writing going on *sigh* lots of Tessa B activity and training and lots of creative thinking.
And lots of playing the waiting to hear from agent and publisher game.
