Some Days are Great...Today STINKS!

So, the great days are the Tessa B Days! She's a fast learner!

Last time I went close to those white things I got smacked.

Best to ignore them. Mum called me a 'Very Good Girl.'

Will I have to 'Get Down?'

No. Let Sleeping Dogs Lie.

Today stinks...I got four rejections!
All sympathies gratefully accepted (sigh).

Sorry to hear about the rejections Pat, but look at that GORGEOUS dog you've got :o) And remember sales taste even more sweet after rejections and I'm sure you'll get a new sale very soon.

Pat Posner said...

Thanks, Cally
I'm sure Tessa B agrees with your description!
And I'm trying hard to remember that sweet taste (smile).

Pat Posner said...

P.S. To Cally
I said it on your blog BUT it just has to be said again!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Thanks, Tam and JJ
Maybe I'll get Tessa B to write the next story. She's so clever, she probably could!!
Though we did have a bit (well, a LOT) of a naughty at lunch time when she jumped up and stole a piece of cheese off Peter's plate. Not once but twice. And she'd just been fed!

Hi Pat,
sorry to hear you have had four rejections.

I have been away for a week, so I may have missed your posting about what you have sent out, were they novels or short stories? Either a way I know it is hard to have your work rejected.

Pat, your comments are coming through loud and clear.
Thank you for your commets on my blog.

Good luck with all your writing.

Best wishes,
Annie

Rejections are a real bummer. But unfortunately it's part of a writer's life isn't it? Doesn't make it any easier though. TAke that lovely Tess out for a long walk and come back and have a glass of wine!

Pat Posner said...

That's strange, Annie
I've just had repeat messages from bl**dy daemon mailer thing telling me again my messages can't be delivered! Anyway, please delete the comments I doubled/tripled up on (smile).
The rejections were all from PF: 2 sent June 24th, 2 sent July 30th.

It's so true it's all part of the writer's life. We all go through it and I should be more than used to it by now! But I think some rejections hurt more than others. If I wasn't so old (grin) I'd put that down to hormones.

Tessa B came for a lovely walk; I'm not much of a wine fan but the coffee chocolate liqueur is in the fridge along with a carton of cream.

Yvonne said...

Pat, I'm sorry about the rejections, there's no accounting for taste, but my crystal ball tells me you'll get a sale really soon. Your dog is gorgeous!

Pat Posner said...

Thanks, Yvonne
Ask your crystal ball how soon is really soon (grin). Pat isn't short for Patience.
Tessa B is preening again!

Sara Hantz said...

Hugs on the rjections... they don't know what they're missing. Tessa is so gorgeous...

I'm so sorry to hear about the rejections....Pfft....some people just have no taste!!! You'll get there!!

Loved your 'Let sleeping dogs lie' - she is such a cutie

Ouch, four at once! I thought PF was staffed by kind, elderly ladies - you'd think they'd be more considerate...
Still, onward and upward.

I don't know what's worse - four rejections all in one day or spread over the week? I know writers are supposed to brush them off, but it's still hard. Don't let them dent your confidence though!

Tessa B looks like a very happy girl!:-)

Pat Posner said...

Sara
You do know that can be taken two ways! Tessa B says you'll make Ellie jealous.

Pat Posner said...

Thanks, C!

Tessa B used to sleep in the bigger chair until its owner left the control thing on the arm and Tessa managed to press the tilt button! Naturally, camera wasn't at the ready!

Honeysuckle, my thoughts exactly.

I suppose it cuts out the waiting and wondering, Lane, getting them all at once. Still waiting on a few more though. And, yes, Tessa B is a very happy character.

Oh, so sorry about the rejections Pat, I know how demoralising that can be, but just remember some of the most famous and talented writers were rejected many times. Take consolation from the fact you've had work published before -and certainly will again. It is very disappointing though, and I'm even more touched that you took the trouble to come across to my blog and congratulate me on my new release. That was so kind of you and much appreciated, I hope I'll be able to do the same for you soon.

(((Hugs))) on the rs, Pat, that was a stinky day for *all* the witches xoxox

Pat Posner said...

Thanks Lyn

Starquest sounds amazing and I love the cover.

For futuristic romance fans: Pop over to Lyn's and read the first chapter.

Pat Posner said...

Thanks, Christina
Sharing ups and downs is what it's all about really, isn't it.
It'd be a sad world with no 'witchies' and other like-minded people to share and care with and for.

HelenMWalters said...

Four ... oh dear. It's awful how they stack up like that. Some kind of cosmic anti-karma I think.

Pat Posner said...

Love that turn of phrase, Helen.
Can't wait for the reverse to happen for those of us waiting!

Colette McCormick said...

Rejections stink - go give that gorgeous dog a big hug. That can't help but a smile on your face.

Deborah Carr (Debs) said...

I've had three rejections in one day before and it was ghastly.

Big hugs to you. I think Cally's right that sales taste even sweeter after rejections.

Pat Posner said...

Gonnabe
It's a good job she loves hugs - there's a chance she'll get hugged-out what with loadsda extras when I get rejections and, of course, an acceptance...or two...

Debs, I'm looking forward to sharing the sweet times!

I've said it before my
blogging friends are THE BEST!

Nell Dixon said...

Back from my hols and catching up - big hugs on the rejections. That is a cute dog!

Karma said...

Sorry about the rejections. Anyone who has the nerve is just lame. In a non-offensive way. Maybe offensive? Yes? No? maybe so? Okay. Sorry. I'm probably confusing yourself just as I am confusing myself. Hope to send a bit of cheeriness over to you.

Amanda Ashby said...

Booo on the rejections. I'm still in shock over that but hoory on Miss Tessa Button who is looking completely adorable!!!

Pondside said...

As someone else said - there's no accounting for taste. Just think - some day they'll be clamoring for more of your work and you'll be able to whip out four completed pieces!
Miss Tessa B is looking gorgeous - and she's smart too - bonus!

Kate Hardy said...

Hugs on the rejections.

Go and hug Tessa, take a deep breath... and you know what I'm going to say next :o)

PS Watch out for postie - should've arrived Saturday, but maybe it's better it arrives today.

Pat Posner said...

Thanks, Nell
Hope you had a great holiday. Your belles would adore Tessa B!

LOL, Ellie, just a bit confusing, but I know what you mean (I think).

Pat Posner said...

Amanda, I'll try very hard not to put you in shock again!
Tessa B likes 'adorable'.

Hi, Pondside, methinks there'll be a few more than 4 before the day.

Miss Tessa B like smart, too!

Thanks, Kate
Yes, I do know! And yes, postie has just been, have emailed you.

The Weaver of Grass said...

Hi Pat! Thanks for your comment on my blog - nice to meet another writer/muser from 'oop North'! The trouble with submitting writing I find is that you get it all smart on the page, tittivate it where necesssary, put it in a pristine envelope - what a palaver - but then despatch it while it is still "your baby" - then it hurts if it is rejected!
Love the dog. Have recently lost Ozzie (GSH Pointer) but now have bitch Border Terrier pup, Tess - we are both smitten although today she has demolished a feather duster (thought it was a dead blackbird!) Regards

Pat Posner said...

Thanks for visiting, Weaver of the Grass. Them from 'oop north' are creeping slowly out of the woodpile now (smile).

Sorry to hear about Ozzie; glad you've got Tess now. She's a beauty and looks as if butter wouldn't melt! I discovered today Tessa B loves chewing, and spitting out all over the carpet, leaves and bits of twig. I guess she's discovering her lost puppyhood. I don't think I'll tell her about your Tess and the feather duster!

Fionnuala said...

I TOTALLY sympathise Pat. I'm currently in rejection hell too. Thinking of papering my bathroom floor with them and covering them in varnish simply so my male guests can occasionally wee on them? x

Pat Posner said...

Now there's a thought, Fionnuala!

Cait O'Connor said...

I loved your doggy photos and their captions, great idea.
Sorry about the rejections, all the best writers get them don't they?

Pat Posner said...

Thanks, Cait, it's great to see you here and you know how I love the photos (and words)on your blog.

As for the 'r' word, I'm trying hard not to use it for a while (smile).
