It's been a While, but...

Yes! I got lost in my writing today. So lost I didn't hear the timer go off - the smell of burning got through to me though.
It's the first time for ages I've been so deeply immersed and, even though I had to throw the spuds away, I felt great.
Funny thing is, it isn't the 'Evacuee' one I'm working on, it's a 'just-born' story for a My Weekly Pocket Novel. There is a dog in it, but not a rough collie.
So if I wish for you (all my marvellous blog mates) to burn potatoes, too, you'll know I'm being cruel to be very kind.

That's good news Pat! (not for the spuds though:-(

I've burnt several things this week but sadly can't blame the writing:-)

Me neither Lane, I burn things all of the time. DO you think it is a dozy writer thing;)

Hope you continue to get the words down Pat. I'm late starting this year but do plan to get going this weekend.

Hope you are well x

Hmm, I didn't know one could burn potatoes... But yes, I definitely need to do some potato burning, I've been far too distracted from writing recently by guinea fowl dramas.

So pleased for you but not for your poor potatoes :-)

Great news, Pat! I hope the smell didn't hang around too long.;-)

Good luck with your writing. ((Hugs))

I did just that last week, and they were huge jacket potatoes. I think that writers must be the only people to find a reason to be happy about burning the food.

Good news about the writing, and good luck with it.

It's great when that happens isn't it? Furry nieces and nephews send purrs.

The smell of burning spuds is wafting over the Pennines! Tess is tearing about like a mad thing and flinging her squeaky toys high in the air - I think we can say she has recovered!

Hello, Pat. Heartwarming to hear that others in the world get so immersed in their writings that they forget what's on the stove!

Hi, Lane
Well, I bet you can blame thinking about writing for the burnt offerings.

L-Plate, I hope you're better and that you've started to get going today.

It's very easy to burn potatoes AV (and Atyllah); burnt eggs are easy to do as well *sigh* and they smell 100 times worse.
I hope there aren't too many guinea fowl dramas this weekend - but they make brilliant reading!

Hi, Liz, and thank you.

Annie, I think the burnt boiled egg smell will hang around for EVER!
I can't believe I've had two burnt days on the trot. Thank you for the hug, one back at you.

Hi, Debs.
Did all the insides burst out all over the oven?

'Tis good indeeed, Helen. Strokes for the furries!

Glad Tess is making a good recovery, Weaver. You do know it'll get very hard for you now, Tess will so want to do things she mustn't.

Hi, Rick
Nice to meet you. I didn't really *forget* the spuds, just didn't hear the timer which I keep in the study not the kitchen so it was right next to me!

Fantastic news Pat! lol I hope you salvaged dinner! I was writing in the car at the school gates last week, having arrived half an hour early and was amazed when I glanced up to notice hundreds of cars had arrived and the school gate was open! Oooops! xx

Great news Pat - I've missed you! So glad to hear the spuds were burnt - I burnt the rhubarb last time. Since then Himself has allocated himself chef...

Looks as if we've both got mojos working at the moment, Mummy.

Thank you Flowerpot, I've missed me, too, felt a bit down and withdrawn after having to send Tessa B back to her breeder. But the phone call from breeder saying Tessa had settled really well cheered me up.
Hey (UNburnt) rhubarb is brilliant for bringing a shine back to saucepans.

Great that you got so immersed in your story - there's something surreal about being completely transported somewhere else, isn't there?

Hahaha, Pat, welcome to the world of burnt offerings!!! And I am soo excited by your new projects - can't wait to read them!!

If it takes a burnt potatoe to get back into the swing it's worth it!! Hope you're okay, Pat.

Great news - if you're so absorbed in it the chances are your readers will be too. Hope the rest of it goes as well.

I cooked on an electric hob for the first time in about 6 years yesterday and managed to weld my bolognese to the bottom of the pot!! I can't wait till we find our own house....one thing I will be insisting on is that it must have a gas cooker!!!

Glad the writing is going well

I'm always burning stuff. Peas was the last thing. Some idiot told me to turn the burnt pan upside down on the back lawn. The dogs weed up it ... it ended up in the bin!

What do a few burnt spuds matter as long as you are having fun?
Glad to say Tessie is back on full form!

Sorry I have missed you PatP, just trying to catch up.

It was only this moring that my friend rang to say that while she was in the bath she could smell burning, left the potatoe in micro for too long and burnt to a cinder.
