On a Writing Roll

I started writing a new book on Easter Sunday. I've just finished chapter four - aka 8,002 words. But I've made myself dizzy by imagining I was riding on an out of control...

There must be a better word than 'dizzy'.
Disorientated, giddy, wobbly, woozy,
wibbly-wobbly, dazed, dazzled.
Any suggestions?

Well done you. That sounds brilliant. Love to T and T from their furry cousins.

Drunk?:-)

Well done on all those words. You're making cracking progress. T&T must be good muses:-)

Yay - go you with the writing, Pat!!

I like Lane's idea for another word! Sozzled - that's another! Is that a word?

stunned? Love to T and T from T

Hahaha, I was so going to say drunk and sozzled but then thought you would tell me off if I did!!!

and hooray on the 8k words!!! Can't wait to read them!!! (I'm subtle. Have you noticed?)

Wibbly-wobbly's definitely the best of those suggestions! Well done on the writing - everyone seems to be getting down to it good and proper lately!

Thanks, Helen
T&T send love back... Me, too.

Hmm, it probably feels similar, Lane. I have been on a waltzer and I've also been...er...well, they were both a long time ago *smile*
Yes, T&T are great muses.

Yes, sozzled is a great word, Amanda.
Weaver, stunned is good. The 2 Ts send love back to T.

Very subtle, Christina. Patience is a virtue, all good things come to them who wait etc etc.

Yes, I like wibbly-wobbly, Honeysuckle.
It must be Spring putting a spring in our writing.

Cliched post over!

discombobulated is a good word.

Pat Posner said...

Ha, Amanda
See my reply to Christina *grin*

Yes, Nell, that is an excellent word - and just the sort of word one of my characters would love using!!

Can I borrow your muses, Pat? Actually not stuck for ideas but time - could do with a writing retreat. Well done on making such good progress.

Got excited today as did not realise you wrote as Lucy Daniels. I am reading one of your books to my daughter about a kitten called Shamrock...she adores it!!

Not in the book of words but what about "squidgy"? I am impressed with the amount of words - is this a novella/novel or childrens book? If I added up all the words I had typed then deleted perhaps it would be close to that number but of no significance to make a story. I love your photos of your furry friends - I have 2 dogs and seven 'rescue' cats - they all love the internet and my attempts to weave a story - Im guessing thats why the cats walk around & over the keyboard, and the dogs follow me in here and fall asleep watching me type. I also live rurally & its a lonely business typing away wondering if any of the key strokes are worth rereading - luckily the animals are diplomatic critics.

I like "discombobulated" myself! Great word count :o)

Chris, T&T are good muses - especially when they flake out after a long walk *smile*

Crystal, they're growing up quickly, so make it soon.

I eat chocolate, Fionnuala, it's another one of my muses.

Michelle, I didn't write all the Lucy Daniels' books (I wish)!

Shamrock isn't one of mine. I wrote: Fawn in the Forest, Swan in the Swim, Dog at the Door, Sheep at the Show, Lamb Lessons, Pony Parade, Gerbil Genius and Frog Friends.

If your daughter loves animal books, there a lot of Animal Ark titles!

Welcome to my blog, LivingNow92.
The word count is for a children's book - it will be around 20,000 words when finished.
It's great having sleeping dogs next to you when writing, isn't it! Not sure I'd want 7 cats walking over my keyboards. I love cats, though, I'm honorary auntie to Helen's 4 rescues.

Karen, I love Nell's discombobulated suggestion, too. Think I'm going with that one.

Hello, finally got around to visiting your blog! And have come in at the point of discussion about
'discombobulated'. What a great word! And I'm very impressed at the word count. What age group are you writing this new book for, and what sort of word count do you need for children's books? I only write adult fiction so I've no idea!
