Daffodil Days

This is the fantastic painting to illustrate my story Daffodil Days in
The People's Friend Spring Special # 57.  I was so over the moon with the painting I googled the illustrator, David Young, and emailed him to thank him. I also asked if I could show the painting here.
And the lovely thing is, too, David is illustrating the second story set in  my prefab village. Can't wait to see it in June's 'Friend'. This one will be in the weekly issue - the Jubilee one.
Hope you all like the painting as much as I do!

LOL, Alana. I know it's late pm and maybe you can see a moon. But the talented artist is David Young!
Glad you like the painting, it really shrieks atmosphere and nostalgia, doesn't it!

It’s Edward. I come here to look for more maps out of children’s books like you showed before. My sister likes maps too. Mum saw the picture of prefab houses and told me Grandma lived in one like that. We bort her the magazine and it’s funny because the lady in the story is Maisie and my grandma’s name is Maisie. She liked the story.

That's lovely, Pat. And I know David Young's work very well - he painted the covers of all three of my Hale Regencies!

Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone!
Think we'll start a David Young fan club!

Hello, Edward
I'm sorry there isn't another map from one of my children's books for you.
I've been busy writing stories for The People's Friend magazine. I'm glad your Grandma Maisie liked the story. You'll have to ask her to tell you about when she lived in a prefab.
xxPat

That painting brings so many happy memories into my head, it is like the pictures I used to have on my wall as a little one.

Pat, your story came just at the right time for my Great-Aunt. She moved recently, not to a prefab village of course! but to a retirement home and she was missing her neighbours. But she realised she could make new friends just like the characters in the story. And she loves daffodils, too. She’s going to borrow from you and have daffodil days in her new home.

Lovely, Pat. Congratulations on your achievements and it is lovely to be back in blogland. Those prefab bungalows were really quite well constructed, according to my husband.

Hi, Amanda, I agree!

Posie, I'm sure David Young will love that his painting brought happy memories into your head. Such a lovely way of describing how the picture made you feel.

Anonymous, how lovely my story helped your great-aunt!
I hope she's settling in happily and that every day really will be a Daffodil Day for her.

Pat Posner said...

Whoops, sorry, Carola, you didn't stay Anonymous in your post.

Hi, Annie
Great to see you back!

Flowerpot, I never really went away *smile* just had trouble commenting on some blogs.

Hi, Patsy
Exciting times for you! Congratulations on the publication of "Escape to the Country". I can't wait to read it.

Thanks, Suzy D. Glad you liked the story and painting. I'm looking forward to writing more stories set in my prefab village.

Good to 'meet' you Suburbia. David really captured the 1950s, didn't he!

I love that painting. It's so evocative of times gone by (my favourite subject!) I tried to write for People's Friend but they're not easy to please. I spent several years writing for Best, Bella and Women's Weekly before writing for children so we have much in common, except I only have two children's books published!

Arriving late, but wanted to say it's lovely, Pat. (Actually, I thought I'd commented on this already, but I must have read this post one of those times blogger wouldn't let me comment.)

That is a lovely painting - I wonder what happens to them after they are printed in the magazine?

Ros, I'm enjoying your A-Z of Nostalgia.

Hi, Suz- glad you like it. Blogger does sometimes throw a wobbly when it comes to commenting!

Good to 'meet' you, Biddy. The original of this painting is now hanging on my wall - along with the one which will illustrate my Jubilee story in People's Friend.
Lovely David Young let me buy them.

That's great, Pat. Lucky you!

Lovely picture, I can see why you were so pleased. I used to love those little prefabs.

Hi Pat, We had prefabs beside where I lived, they brought back memories for me. I will have to buy the Peoples's Friend again. Lovely painting. I'm sur I had some of your books for my daughter, did you write some in the late eighties?
